Why Choose HDP
There is one key reason to choose HDP over standard PE (polyester) or SMP (silicone-modified polyester): weather resistance. HDP uses a higher-molecular-weight polyester resin combined with specially formulated UV stabilizers, providing significantly better resistance to chalking and fading than PE.
Under normal outdoor use, it will not show noticeable chalking or color variation for 15 to 20 years—the exact lifespan depends on local climate and the coating system. While this lifespan naturally falls short of that of PVDF fluorocarbon coatings, HDP achieves 60 to 80 percent of PVDF’s weather resistance at a price only slightly higher than SMP, making HDP paint coatings a highly cost-effective choice.

Application Scenarios
HDP color-coated steel coils are most widely used in building envelopes, such as in the following scenarios:
- Roofs and walls of industrial plants, warehouses, and logistics centers;
- Coastal buildings and port facilities, as well as building envelope systems in salt fog environments;
- Commercial buildings, exhibition halls, sports venues, and other projects requiring large-area exterior facades to maintain long-term color consistency;
- Light-gauge steel villa envelopes, canopies, and carports.
In addition to building envelopes, HDP color-coated steel is also used for outdoor equipment enclosures, billboards/warning signs, and the side panels of certain home appliances.
