DX51D is a common low-carbon galvanized steel sheet, which belongs to the hot-dip galvanized steel (GI) grade defined in the European standard EN 10346. It is mainly used in the fields of construction, home appliances, and light industry. Its name means:
D: Stands for cold forming steel (Ductile).
X: Indicates that the base material is low-carbon steel.
51: Indicates the material grade (standard strength level).
D: Indicates that the coating type is pure zinc (Zinc Coating).
+Z: Zinc layer marking, indicating the total weight of the double-sided zinc layer, unit g/m².

Key Features of DX51D Steel
Good corrosion resistance: A zinc layer is formed on the surface of the steel plate through the hot-dip galvanizing process. The zinc layer can effectively isolate air and moisture and prevent the steel plate substrate from rusting. The common zinc layer weights are 80g, 120g, 150g per square meter, etc. The thicker the zinc layer, the stronger the corrosion resistance.
Good processing performance: It belongs to the bending and forming grade galvanized sheet, which can be simply bent and folded, etc. It is suitable for mechanical processing and structural manufacturing, and can meet the processing of ventilation ducts, switch cabinets, etc.
Moderate strength: It has certain strength and toughness, and can withstand a certain degree of deformation while ensuring structural strength.
High material purity: With low-carbon steel as the base material, the carbon content does not exceed 0.18%, the manganese content does not exceed 1.2%, the phosphorus content does not exceed 0.12%, and the sulfur content does not exceed 0.045%. The impurity content is low, which ensures the stable performance and processing adaptability of the steel.

Compared with other galvanized steel
DX51D, DX52D, DX53D, and DX54D are all galvanized steel sheets for cold forming. Their main difference lies in their different mechanical properties, which leads to different uses.
DX51D: The yield strength is not clearly specified, the tensile strength is 270-500MPa, and the minimum elongation after fracture is 22%. It belongs to the ordinary commodity level and is one of the most commonly used galvanized steel sheets with certain strength and corrosion resistance.
DX52D: The yield strength is 140-300MPa, the tensile strength is 270-420MPa, and the minimum elongation after fracture is 26%. Compared with DX51D, it has lower strength but better ductility. It belongs to stamping grade steel and can be used for some simple stamping processes.
DX53D: The yield strength is 140-260MPa, the tensile strength is 270-380MPa, and the minimum elongation after fracture is 30%. It has good ductility and formability, and is mainly used to manufacture deep stamping parts.
DX54D: Yield strength is 120- 220MPa, tensile strength is 260-350MPa, minimum elongation after fracture is 36%, minimum r90 value is 1.6, and minimum n90 value is 0.18. Its strength is relatively low, but its plasticity and toughness are very good, and it has excellent deep drawing performance and anti-strain aging performance.

Production process
Substrate preparation: cold-rolled low-carbon steel coil, such as SPCC.
Hot-dip galvanizing: immersion in 450℃ zinc liquid → air knife control zinc layer → cooling and solidification.
Post-treatment: chromate passivation (environmentally friendly) → oiling for rust prevention.
