What is 1mm aluminum strip?

Aluminum strips are usually 10mm to 1500mm wide and fixed at 1mm thick. They are made from various grades of aluminum (1100, 1050, 2024, 5052, 5005) through hot rolling, cold rolling, and annealing. They have excellent performance and a wide range of uses.

1050, 1060, 1100: Aluminum content ≥ 99.5%, almost pure aluminum, excellent corrosion resistance, elongation ≥ 30%, very soft.
2024, 2017: Contains copper and magnesium, good fatigue resistance, poor weldability, high strength, weak corrosion resistance.
3003, 3004: Contains manganese and magnesium, medium strength, good deep stamping performance, excellent corrosion resistance.
5052, 5083: Contains magnesium and chromium, marine-grade corrosion resistance, medium to high strength, weldable, and cannot be heat-treated and strengthened.
6061, 6063: Contains magnesium and silicon, with balanced strength + formability + corrosion resistance, can be heat-treated and strengthened, and is easy to extrude.
7075, 7005: Contains zinc, magnesium, and copper, ultra-high strength, sensitive to stress corrosion, and good machining performance.
8011, 8079: Contains iron and silicon, high ductility, the thinnest foil is 0.006mm, and high temperature resistance up to 300℃.

Tensile strength: 80–300 MPa (depending on alloy grade).
Electrical conductivity: 35–50% IACS (pure aluminum).
Thermal conductivity: 120–210 W/m·K, suitable for heat exchangers.
Elongation (≥ %): 2-35.

Manufacturing process

1: Casting: Molten aluminum is cast into slabs (ingots).

2: Hot rolling: Slabs are heated to 500°C and rolled to medium thickness.

3: Cold rolling: Precision rolling at room temperature to a thickness of 1mm (tolerance ±0.02mm).

4: Annealing: Heat treatment (250-400°C) to eliminate stress and improve ductility.

5: Slitting: Trimming to custom widths (e.g., 50mm, 200mm).

6: Surface treatment: Anodizing, polishing,g or coating based on special needs.
