What is Water Ripple stainless steel?

Water ripple stainless steel is a decorative metal sheet with a surface texture that mimics the gentle ripples on the water. Usually, mirror-polished stainless steel is used. After stamping or rolling, the reflective surface of the steel interacts with light to create a visual effect of water-like flow.

Common grades

• 201: A nickel-saving stainless steel with a lower nickel content and a higher price, mainly used for indoor applications. Slightly less corrosion resistance than 304.
• 304: A widely used stainless steel grade suitable for general indoor and outdoor applications. It contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel, which gives it good corrosion resistance.
• 304L: The “L” in 304L stands for low carbon. This grade is an improvement over 304, with a lower carbon content, which enhances its resistance to intergranular corrosion.
• 316: Considered a marine stainless steel grade, it contains 2% molybdenum in addition to chromium and nickel. This addition significantly improves its corrosion resistance, especially in harsh chemical environments. Used where high corrosion resistance is required.

Production method

Stamping method

One of the commonly used methods is to place the stainless steel plate on a mold engraved with a water ripple pattern. Use a high-pressure hydraulic press to apply pressure. The pattern is embedded in the surface of the steel. After stamping, finishing can be performed, such as polishing or color coating.

Rolling method

The stainless steel plate is placed on the rolling rollers of a rolling mill with a water ripple pattern embossed on the surface. As the plate moves between the rolling rollers, the pattern is gradually imprinted on the steel plate. This method is suitable for continuous production and is similar to the stamping method.

Package

First layer: Covered with laser PVC film to protect the surface from scratches.

Second layer: Covered with Chinese local black and white PVC film or double black and white PVC film (7C+5C) to further enhance protection.

Third layer: Covered with kraft waterproof paper to prevent moisture intrusion.

Fourth layer: Covered with thick wooden boards to protect the edges of the boards from impact.
