According to market reports, the hot-rolled coil prices in Turkey declined by $20/ton in the last week, as buyers continue to remain cautious and observe the market closely. As a result, some local steel mills in Turkey have started to adjust their quotes downward.
For instance, the domestic selling price of hot-rolled coil from Izmir Steel Mill is currently around $850/ton EXW, with a further discount of $20/ton for large quantity orders. Meanwhile, other local steel mills are quoting around $870/ton, which is still higher than the current market transaction price of $840/ton.
Note: The price trend in the picture is from Shanghai Port ( the red one) and other cities in China.
In related news, MMK Metalurji, a Turkish steel manufacturer, is set to restart production of hot-rolled coil from April 1, with an annual production capacity of 2.3 million tons. The company has already started collecting orders for April and May. In addition to its existing inventory, MMK Metalurji is actively procuring scrap steel to meet production requirements.
