Why Do Hot-rolled Coils Have Split-layer Problems?

The problem of split-layer of hot rolled coils is a difficult problem that we face for a long time in the production of the hot rolled coil. The appearance of a split layer brings inconvenience to the binding, spraying, and transportation of steel coil, and makes the qualified plate and tape become defective after winding, resulting in losses.

1. Causes of split-level:

a. Side guide is seriously worn. Because the speed of the strip through the side guide plate is very fast, the working face of the side guide plate is seriously worn in the process of clamping the strip steel, so that the side guide plate can not contact the strip steel at the set position, resulting in the strip moving between the two sides of the guide plate, and the uneven winding, so that with the increase of the number of uneven turns, there is a splinter layer.
b. Reasons for side guide detection elements. After the position sensor is replaced, the position calibration is not carried out, so there is an error between the feedback position and the actual position, and then the guide plates on both sides cannot clamp the strip steel, so it cannot stimulate the vitality control. The guide plate is always in the position control state when the strip steel passes, resulting in misalignment. In addition, the feedback of the actual value of pressure is wrong, which will also cause a split level.
c. The steel strip itself. The side of the steel strip is not uniform, such as the sickle bend, or the wave in the rolling process, through the side guide instantaneous force is very large, and the side with force control adjustment will be opened outward for the protection of the equipment, away from the strip to reduce the force, then the strip because of not being clamped and moving between the guide, resulting in split-layer.
d. The reason for the pinch roll. When the position deviation of the two sides of the pinch roll is too large or the pressure on the strip is too large, the split layer will occur.

2. Solution

a. Modify the position setting of the side guide. In the case of serious wear of the side guide plate, the position setting value of the side guide plate should be reduced to make the side guide plate shrink to ensure the clamping of the strip steel; For the problem that the scythe bend of the strip steel will make the side guide too much pressure, enlarge the position setting value.
b. Replace the side guide plate regularly and calibrate its position. After the calibration is completed, attention should be paid to manually opening the side guide plate and reversing several positions, measuring the opening degree with the box ruler, and comparing it with the feedback value of the position sensor, to solve the sensor problem by increasing or reducing the compensation value of the difference between the feedback value and the measured value; In addition, the feedback value of the pressure sensor on the operating side and transmission side of the side guide plate should be carefully monitored, and attention should be paid to the re-calibration and replacement of the sensor and the receiving module of the sensor.
c. Check the pinch roll regularly. The pinch roller is seriously worn and should be updated immediately; In addition, the feedback value of the pressure sensor on both sides of the pinch roller is observed and compared with the measured value of the mechanical meter in the valve station. If the deviation is too large, it should be replaced in time.
