Q: Why is galvanized steel price even higher than that of PPGI steel?

A: The price of galvanized steel mainly depends on the zinc coating thickness. The thick the zinc coating, the higher the price. The thickness can be up to 275 g/m². Even PPGI coil uses galvanized steel as base metal, its price may be lower than that of galvanized steel. It is because the zinc coating for the color-coated steel is much thinner. If you have special requirements, please let us know.

Q: Why is the service life of PPGI coil shorter than that of galvanized steel?

A: The service of galvanized steel is more than 30 years, while the lifespan of color coated steel coil is more than 20 years. Why? It is because the useful life of galvanized steel is mainly determined by the zinc coating thickness. Generally, the thicker the zinc coating, the longer the service life. While the galvanized steel used in PPGI usually has a thin zinc layer. That’s why its expected life is shorter. But you can prolong the service life by using high-quality painting.
