Export PPGI steel strips and galvanized sheets to Panama

In May, the PPGI steel strips and galvanized sheets ordered by a Panamanian customer were shipped by Wanzhi Steel as scheduled. The cooperation was very smooth. The details of the project are recorded below.

Customer Background

The client is engaged in the construction and building materials business in Panama, mainly serving local industrial plants, storage facilities, and residential projects. Due to the humid climate in Panama, the corrosion resistance of steel is required to be high, so the client needs high-quality black PPGI steel strip and galvanized sheet for roofing, wall panels, and steel structure manufacturing.

After market research, the client finally chose to cooperate with us because we can provide color-coated coils and galvanized sheets that meet ASTM standards and have perfect export experience.

Order details

• Products: Black coated galvanized steel strip (PPGI), galvanized steel sheet (GI).
• Specifications: PPGI thickness 0.4mm, width 1000mm, PVDF coating, GI sheet thickness 1.0 mm, width 1250mm, Z120 galvanized.
• Quantity: PPGI 95 tons, GI 89 tons.
• Use: PPGI is used for local industrial plant roofs & walls, GI sheet is used for steel structure frames & enclosures.

Project Production

• Raw material procurement: Select high-quality cold-rolled substrate (SPCC) to ensure surface flatness. The galvanized sheet adopts Z120 galvanized layer (120g/m² on both sides) to ensure the corrosion resistance of the product.
• Galvanizing treatment: Continuous hot-dip galvanizing is used for the cold-rolled substrate SPCC to ensure uniform adhesion of the zinc layer, in line with ASTM A653 standards.
• Color coating process: Degreasing and phosphating are performed for pre-treatment, and then primer + topcoat are applied. PVDF coating is used, RAL 9005 black, which is resistant to UV and aging.
• Baking and curing: High-temperature baking ensures the hardness and durability of the coating.
• Striping and coiling: The color-coated coil is cut into 29mm,32mm, and 38mm widths according to customer requirements and coiled into steel coils.
• Cutting: Cut the galvanized coil of standard zinc spangle into galvanized sheets with a width of 1220 mm and a length of 2443 mm.

To ensure that the products meet the needs of the Panamanian market, we conduct strict tests:

• Galvanized layer test: zinc layer weight and uniformity.
• Corrosion resistance test: salt spray test on GI board to ensure the quality of the zinc layer.
• Color coating adhesion test: cross-cut method, ASTM D3359.
• Color difference test: spectrometer comparison RAL 9005 standard.
• Dimension tolerance check: thickness and width meet ±0.02mm.

Packaging and Shipping

Packaging Method

• Steel coil packaging: inner layer of moisture-proof paper + outer layer of iron strapping to prevent moisture during sea transportation.
• Pallet fixing: Each coil is bundled separately to avoid collision during transportation.

Transportation Solutions

• From Qingdao Port, China to Colón Port, Panama, 20GP container shipping, the transportation time is about 27 days.
