20 gauge Galvanized steel is widely used in many fields such as construction and automobile manufacturing due to its excellent corrosion resistance, strength, and plasticity. Its zinc layer is achieved by dipping the steel in molten zinc or using electroplating technology. This is a base steel on which a variety of processes can be performed, such as corrugating it, coating it, printing it, and making it into galvanized steel. Therefore, galvanized steel 20 GA has high plasticity. Please continue reading to learn more details.

Everyone is curious about why steel thickness is inversely proportional to the gauge number, i.e. 16 gauge is thicker than 20 gauge, this interpretation comes from the early development of steel gauge measurement, when measurement was based on 1 inch thick plate, and 1 inch thickness of steel was measured in decreasing fractions, such as 1/14 inch thick, 1/16 inch thick, 1/20 inch thick, and so on.
Over time, the number in the denominator became a simple identifier and eventually became the “gauge number”. So, 1/16 inch became 16 gauge, and the thinner 1/20 inch became 20 gauge. So we put the number back into fractional format and we get the actual nominal thickness size.
Gauges (sometimes spelled “gages” and abbreviated “GA”) are a standardized method of measuring and classifying thin steel products such as plates, coils, tubes, and wire. As the number increases, the thickness of the product decreases inversely. The thickest plate gauge is 3GA and the thinnest is 38GA.
In fact, the gauges are not only applicable to galvanized steel but also to stainless steel. Besides 20 gauge, the common galvanized steel we have is 12, 18, 16, 22, 24, and 25. For example, in the kitchen sink, The numbers usually range from 18 to 23, and basically the lower the number, the thicker the material. If you are a novice, it is recommended to consult a professional manufacturer to choose the right grade.

The inside is wrapped in waterproof kraft paper, and there is a layer of transparent plastic film. The outside is a thin steel plate, which is fixed with ropes on the outermost side and then fixed on a wooden bracket to prevent friction between the internal steel plates.
