What is galvanised checker plate?

Galvanized checker plate is a hot-dip galvanized steel plate with raised patterns (usually diamond-shaped) printed on the surface. A protective zinc layer is plated on the surface of the steel through the galvanizing process, which significantly improves its corrosion resistance and wear resistance. Weight (kg) = length × width × thickness × density 7.86Kg/m³.

 

Calculate by area

Weight (kg) = length × width × theoretical unit weight (kg/m²).
Note: The theoretical unit weight is the weight of 1 square meter of board. The unit weight of 2 mm thick diamond embossed board is about 16kg/m², and 3mm thick board is about 25kg/m².

Recommended Board Thickness for Different Uses

1. Choose 4-8mm thickness
Factory workshops, oil platforms, logistics warehouses, and other areas that need to carry heavy machinery or frequent personnel traffic. Pattern height ≥1.5mm, diamond pattern spacing ≤50mm.
2. Choose 2.5-4mm thickness
Public buildings, commercial places, and residential stair treads. Pattern depth must be ≥1mm.
3. Choose 3-6mm thickness
Truck compartments, ship decks,and  container floors.
4. Choose 2-3mm thickness
Corral floors, feed troughs, and agricultural machinery protection.
5. Choose 3-5mm thickness
Drainage ditch covers, bus stops, and park trails.
6. Choose 0.8-2mm thickness ultra-thin boards

Manufacturing process

There are two different production processes.

1. Rolling by rolling mill

  • Steel base selection: Use Q235 or Q195 carbon steel or other substrates to obtain high strength and roll to the required thickness.
  • Hot dip galvanizing: The steel plate is continuously immersed in molten zinc to form a protective layer and solidify.
  • Embossing: Diamond/linear patterns are pressed out by hydraulic rollers.
  • Cutting and finishing: Cut to the required length and width according to size.
  • Quality inspection: Use tools to test the zinc content of the surface coating, measure the coating thickness and plate thickness, and check the coating quality to ensure that there is no blistering or burrs.

This kind of checker plate is flat on one side and the other side is embossed.. It is often used in the chemical industry, railway vehicles, platforms, and other occasions where strength is required.

2. Mechanical stamping

Another type of non-galvanized checker plate is made of hot-rolled or cold-rolled galvanized steel plate, which is made by mechanical stamping. One side is concave and the other side is convex. It is often used for decorative purposes.
