Exporting 505 Tons of Pattern Printed Galvalume Steel Coils to Russia

In September 2024, China’s Wanzhi Steel Group successfully exported 56 tons of solid-color coated steel coils to Russia’s Noviya Building Materials Company. In June of this year, the customer placed another order for 505 tons of high-end printed and color-coated steel coils. Client Background

Novia Building Materials, a Russian company, is a well-known distributor of building materials and metal products in the Moscow region, primarily serving residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects. In this collaboration, the client placed stringent requirements on printing accuracy, weather resistance, and lead time, seeking high-quality roofing materials for their “Moscow Golden Manor” residential project. Having established a strong relationship during our initial collaboration, the client was confident that we would be able to produce the core building materials for this project.

Order Details

This order includes high-end printed color-coated rolls in various sizes and patterns:

• Product Specifications: 0.45mm thickness, 1200mm width
• Substrate Type: Galvalume (GL) substrate, AZ50 g/m²
• Coating System: 25μm highly weather-resistant PVDF coating
• Print Patterns: Wood grain, Grass pattern, and custom geometric patterns

Project Production

Facing the customer’s high standards and tight delivery deadlines, Wanzhi Steel Group established a dedicated production team and developed a meticulous production plan:

Production Preparation Phase

The technical team specifically adjusted the coating formula and process parameters to suit Russia’s harsh climate (-40°C to 30°C), ensuring the product maintains excellent weather resistance and flexibility even in extreme temperatures.

Production Process Control

Utilizing an advanced digital color-coating production line, coating thickness, curing temperature, and printing accuracy are monitored in real time. Each roll is accompanied by independent process parameter records to ensure full traceability.

Technological breakthrough

In response to customer requirements for the imitation of natural wood grain effects, the R&D team developed a new printing roller and seven-color printing process to achieve realistic texture effects and color layering.

Quality Inspection

To ensure product quality complies with Russian GOST standards and European EN10169 specifications, the company has implemented a rigorous quality control system:

• Raw Material Testing: 100% inspection of substrate coating weight, mechanical properties, and surface cleanliness.
• Production Process Testing: Hourly sampling tests for coating thickness, color variation, and adhesion.
• Finished Product Performance Testing: Salt spray resistance, UV aging, bend testing, and low-temperature impact resistance testing.
• Third-Party Verification: The client commissioned SGS to conduct product sampling and provide authoritative test reports.

Professional packaging solutions

To address the challenges of long-distance transportation and multiple transfers, the packaging team designed a professional protective solution:

• Each steel coil is first wrapped in moisture-proof paper, then covered with thick PE film.
• Specialized corner guards are installed on the edges to prevent bumps during transportation.
• Steel strapping and ironwood pallets are used for reinforcement to ensure stacking stability.
• The packaging is marked with moisture-proof and anti-collision markings, as well as orientation indicators.
• Each packaging unit is clearly labeled with product information.

Shipping and Transportation

Taking into account Russia’s winter weather, the logistics team developed a combined sea-rail transport solution:

1) Phase 1: The goods were shipped from Qingdao Port and transported to St. Petersburg Port by container.

2) Phase 2: The goods were transferred to Moscow via Russian Railways’ dedicated insulated carriages.

3) Customs clearance assistance: Complete certificates of origin, quality certificates, and customs documentation were provided to ensure smooth customs clearance.

The entire transportation process took only 28 days, and the goods arrived at the customer’s designated warehouse five days ahead of schedule.
