Wanzhi Steel exported 319 tons of textured ppgi coils to Djibouti

In mid-September, Wanzhi Steel completed the export of 319 tons of PPGI textured steel coils. The cargo has arrived safely at the Port of Djibouti in East Africa and will be used in the construction of a key local warehousing and logistics park. Please enjoy a video of this collaborative project.

Customer Background

This Djibouti customer already does business with our Ugandan customer. Last December, our Ugandan customer ordered wood-grain color-coated steel coils of excellent quality that have stood the test of time, prompting him to recommend our factory to the Djibouti customer. The Djibouti customer, a builder with its own processing plant, purchased the color-coated steel coils for use in corrugated roofing panels. Our communication is shown in the screenshot.

• Special Process: Due to the elevated salinity in Djibouti, a chromium-free passivation treatment is added before coating to further enhance corrosion resistance.
• Final Destination: Port of Djibouti, with subsequent land transportation to the project site.

Project production process

During the manufacturing process, the galvanized steel coils are first uncoiled and stitched together. After the entrance looper ensures continuous production, surface impurities are removed through pretreatment to enhance coating adhesion. Subsequently, the initial coating, baking and cooling, fine coating, and secondary baking and cooling are completed in sequence. The desired texture is then pressed with an embossing machine, and finally the finished steel coils are formed after being buffered, quality inspected, sheared, and coiled through the exit looper.

Quality Inspection

Coating Thickness Inspection

Ensures that the coating thickness on both sides meets the standard.

Adhesion Testing

Performs cross-cut and bend tests to verify that the coating does not peel.

Color Difference and Surface Inspection

Compares to a standard color palette to ensure color consistency and a clear, flawless texture.

Corrosion Resistance Testing

Salt spray testing is performed on selected samples to ensure suitability for Djibouti’s maritime climate.

A series of measurement and inspection records are also collected for surface flatness, coil width, coil thickness, inner coil diameter, outer coil diameter, and coil weight.

Packaging

Out of trust in us, the customer agreed to use our standard export packaging method. To ensure safety during long-distance ocean transport, the protective packaging is as follows:

Inner layer

The steel coils are wrapped in waterproof and moisture-proof paper to prevent condensation.

Middle layer

Thickened corrugated cardboard provides cushioning protection.

Outer layer

A waterproof plastic film is added, secured with high-strength steel straps, and labeled with moisture-proof, drop-proof, and upward-facing labels.

Shipping and Transportation

The steel coils are fixed with wooden pallets and triangular wood and reinforced with steel wire ropes to prevent damage during transportation.

Inland Transportation

Goods are shipped by land from the Wanzhi Steel factory to the port of Qingdao, China.

International Ocean Freight

A dedicated freight forwarder arranges efficient shipping routes to the port of Djibouti, providing full logistics tracking and timely communication with customers.
