Chemical Composition

304 stainless steel is mainly composed of iron, chromium (Cr), and nickel (Ni). The standard composition includes about 18% chromium and 8% nickel, so it is also called 18/8 stainless steel.

In addition, it contains trace amounts of other elements such as carbon (C), molybdenum (Mo), copper (Cu), silicon (Si), niobium (Nb), titanium (Ti), sulfur (S), selenium (Se), calcium (Ca) and tellurium (Te), which can affect its performance and processing characteristics.

Surface Finish Types

• NO.1: Rough surface, presence of oxidized skin and indentation, can be further processed.
• 1D: hot rolled + annealed + pickled process, retaining hot rolled texture.
• 2D: cold rolled + heat treatment + pickling, suitable for deep drawing process, matte surface.
• 2B: 2D based on more bright processing, smooth surface slightly reflective.
• NO.3: for a polished surface, the surface can be seen with fine polishing grains.
• NO.4: frosted surface, friction resistant and fingerprint resistant.
• 8K: Mirror polished, highly reflective.
• HL: brushed surface is unidirectional fine brushed texture, anti-scratch.
